![]() ![]() Usually folks use boat fiberglass cloth from the boat store and "fiberglass resin" which is polyester, which doesnt add any strength unless its a half inch thick. There are more pictures here if you're interested.Make sure the repairs are sufficient, or else the cracks along the creases at the spinner hump will come back. I saw a CO guitar once and it was really bright and light orange so i'm thinking Arc Yellow.Īnyway, i took several other pictures but didn't want to spam the thread with too many. Same goes for Blaze Orange and Arc Yellow.wondering which one is Carotene Orange. Also wondering which is SK - Aurora Pink or Neon Red, they are both very close. Now I need to get my hands on a Five Alarm red guitar and see if matches Fire Orange. But at the end of the day if you want these colors I agree with Ben and hats off to him for cracking the code. Between fading, yellowing over time, variability in terms of number of coats, perhaps the shade of white they used underneath, etc, etc.all things that that move the needle a little bit. i bet if we had the paint it would be spot on just like the rocket red looks a little different when applied compared to the paper color sample.Īll in all, i think this is the stuff. ![]() The magenta is a little off from teh strip, but again the strip is misleading i think. The original DY doesn't has less of a green overtone to it. As for the DY - the color strip actually looks pretty dead on with 20th anniversary. I think the number of coats probably has something to do with it. However I've seen my brother's guitar finished and I think it looks more like the anniversary when all said and done. For the RFR - looking at the overflow on the paint can it actually matches the original more than the anniversary. Honestly the color strip looks a bit different than the actual paint when applied and dried (at least that's the case for the rocket red, i don't have the others). I also took some shots of the RFR against the color strip but didn't include them e link below for more pictures. MY KIDS TOY THAT HAPPENED TO BE RIGHT ON THE TABLE NEXT TO ME WHEN I WAS TAKING THE PICTURES MAY MATCH BETTER THAN THE DAYGLO. Here are some pictures, on the left is the RG 20th anniversay and on the right is an original '87 RFR RG550 When he brings it my way i can get a shot of that too next to the others as that will be an even more accurate comparison than a color strip as it will have clear coat etc as opposed to a piece of paper. It's done, just needs to be wetsanded and buffed but i don't have access to it yet to take a picture. I think the dayglo is the real deal or at least as close as your going to get.Īlso my brother is doing a custom pii (one of the Nate Pearl bodies) in dayglo RFR. Nevertheless, i will try to get some pictures of the color strip next to a few different guitars (originals, 20th anniversaries, DY 540p which is not faded, etc, etc). ![]() Your 540p would be a good test too because that is an original that is not faded. Same goes for the DY.i have a 20th DY rg550 and it seems to have more of a green tint to it compared to my '87 rg550 which again may be faded somewhat but also seems to have a little less of a green tint to it. I think the dayglo is closer to the 20th than my '87 which would make sense if that's what they're using. I don't know if it's just fading or if they changed the formula a little over the years but it's slightly different. Click to expand.Jesse, my brother has a 20th anniversary RFR and I have an '87 and the color on the new one is slightly darker/more orangey than the original IMO (which seems to be more on the pink side). ![]()
